It is very hard to lose weight; if it were so easy then America would not so heavy. For many people it takes months and months just to lose 10 pounds and for some people it takes a couple of weeks. Notice the theme running through this website of 'Weight Management' in contrast to 'Weight Loss'. Here is a major difference. Short term weight loss is not too difficult for most persons. But the issue is in maintaining that weight loss and making it a lifestyle choice. Weight management is obviously very much superior, and the goal to aspire to, as we need to maintain (manage) our weight long term. So the 'feed then famine' routine that many fall into is not the solution, and this in fact is hazardous to the body metabolism.

The problem with all of those diets is that once you lose the weight you go back to eating the way you used to that it is a real possibility that you will gain the weight back. You should try to adapt to a diet that allows you to eat the things you want but do not over do it. With the proper amount of exercise and rest, you could lose the weight, you have to be patient and you can’t be a scale watcher. Scale watchers do exactly it is, after the first three days, they don’t see the scale move they get discouraged and they get discouraged.

So they quit, the best way to lose weight is not to have a scale around at all. This way what you don’t know won’t hurt or discourage you.
